A week of holiday in Beijing with my parents, siblings, aunts and a cousin in an extremely cold winter weather. It's both fun and exciting having to go around city visiting a lot of places such as the famous Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City and The National Stadium.
Even if the food does not seem to be "my cup of tea", it's quite an experience to have a chance in tasting THE one and only original chinese food (there are a several halal restaurants around Beijing in case you are wondering).
Despite having to eat foods that are not to my liking and the chilling winter that freezes me to the core, the city itself have plenty of tourists attraction to visit and a week there is quite a leisure holiday going around the city. Any shorter and the visits might be a little rushed (I recommend you guys should do a week if you want the luxury of taking things slow and easy).
Money wise, you should bring plenty if you want to buy plenty and luxurious souvenirs for you and some friends back home. Allocate some time for you to go shopping in the market (especially the Silk Street). At there you can buy plenty of goods such as clothing, accessories, bags and electronics at a ridiculously cheap price. Counterfeits and questionable quality products are all around for purchase. The cheapest price depends on how low can you bargain. Be careful when you bargain as they might be somewhat aggressive and always be mindful of your belongings.
If you wander around Beijing with a tour guide, they might bring you to some of the government retail shops. These products are quite costly and you might not be able to bargain but you can be sure the quality is better than what you can get in the market (probably). Since Beijing used to home some well known great emperors during the great Chinese Dynasty era, the items sold are of great value and quality such as silk, jade and fresh water pearl. Items that are suitable befitting royalty standards (or almost up to that standard).
Photography is also a usual thing to have when you are traveling, on holiday or anything. All in good intentions of safe keeping, for a trip to memory lane some time in the future or the thrill and love of photography itself. I have managed to capture some great and beautiful pictures that I believe you can enjoy in great awe (not too bad if I do say so myself).
